BT trials radio broadband

BT is to trial broadband over the air as part of its effort to bring broadband access to everyone by the end of 2005. 105 triallists from four regions (Ballingry in Fife, Scotland, Pwllheli in Wales, Porthleven in Cornwall and Campsie in Northern Ireland) will test the new technology in the pilot that will last until March of next year. Extended-reach ADSL trials to be expanded

BT is planning to expand its trials of a modified version of ADSL that would bring broadband within reach of another 600,000 UK homes. The trials are investigating whether BT can increase the range from 55dB to 60dB, equating to a distance of around 6km from an exchange to the user. PlusNet lifts data caps on broadband

PlusNet has announced that it is to raise the data usage ceilings for its PAYG Basic, Plus and Premier customers. From 1 August 2006, the included peak-time usage for the PAYG Basic service will rise from 50MB to 450MB.
