BT to extend SDSL to 50 extra exchanges

BT has announced that it is to extend the range of its SDSL broadband services to 50 further exchanges in the Greater London and West Midlands areas. This will bring the total number of SDSL-enabled exchanges to 150, following the September roll-out of the service. Internet giant's buying spree goes on

Cisco Systems, with its seemingly unquenchable thirst for acquisitions, has bought Sheer Networks. Under the terms of the deal, Cisco will pay around $97 million in cash and share options. At the recent NAB 2001 convention in Las Vegas, electronics giant Sony announced that it would start to put IP addresses into its products.
