IBM reveals increased revenues and profits

First quarter results for 2003 have been revealed by IBM. The headline figures are an 11 per cent increase in revenues that helped to create an 8 per cent increase in profits. Belgian virus author arrested

Gigabyte, one of the few women in the male-dominated world of the virus-writing underground, has been arrested. The 19-year-old author of viruses such as Coconut, Sahay and Sharp, was arrested by the Belgian police force last Monday evening in her home town of Mechelen, according to reports. Blu-ray boosts FireWire

The adoption of Blu-ray technology for high-volume data storage will provide a major boost for FireWire, according to the 1394 Trade Association, which oversees development of the high-speed data interface. Consumer electronics companies including Samsung, Sharp and LaCie have already introduced HD-capable FireWire-equipped Blu-ray disc technology. Sharp, for instance, has introduced a Blu-ray recorder equipped with 1394 connectivity for recording high-definition TV programs from its FireWire-equipped TV sets. ...more
