Worldwide laptop sales reach new heights

The latest International Data Corporation (IDC) figures show that the notebook PC segment is accounting for a larger share of the worldwide PC market, with the proportion reaching a record high in the second quarter of this year and notebook makers expect the share to top 50 per cent in 2008. DVD crack number two

We've previously reported on the case of the programmers who managed to hack and copy DVD movies with their DeCSS code, well now it appears that another team of programmers have come up with a similar program. Keith Winstein and Marc Horowitz say that they are using their code to illustrate the point that publishing code that decrypts and plays DVDs is not illegal. These two MIT students claim that they are educating people in the issues surrounding copyright and, therefore, are protected by the First Amendment, which upholds their right to free speech. ...more

The Mozilla Organisation has released the latest version of its standalone email sofware. Oversupply forces down LCD prices

Flat panel display and TV prices may drop sharply over the next few months due to higher than expected over supply. A survey by iSuppli has found that oversupply will be an estimated 6.2 per cent in the fourth quarter of the year. ...more
