These days, gamers seem to be more obsessed with high-spec graphics cards, frame rates and photo-realistic graphics than anything else. Well this little known mod project turns the gamesworld upside down and transforms Quake into a hand drawn nightmare. New computer game violence warning

A new game depicting violence and football hooliganism has caused outrage before it has even reached our shores. The game, by Dutch software group The Thirteenth Production, shows skinhead hooligans battling against each other at football matches, and some scenes depict their beaten victims, bruised and bloody after an ambush, outside a train station. AMD throws down challenge to Centrino with Turion chip

AMD has signalled it plans to take on Intel in the notebook processor market with a low-power version of its Athlon 64 design for 'thin and light' notebooks. The new range - dubbed Turion - is aimed to go head to head with Intel's Centrino products. Currently AMD has a mobile version of the Athlon 64 and the budget Sempron range for notbooks although neither is particularly optimised for computing on the move and are seen more as desktop replacement machines. ...more

Symantec blames yesterday's code for today's security flaws

Legacy code is still a factor in the security problems facing modern software. Internet users are facing cyber attacks from flaws in software that are discovered at the rate of seven a day, according to Symantec's Internet Security Threat report for the latter half of 2003. The report reveals the trend is rising - in 2003 the company recorded 2,636 new vulnerabilities compared with 2,587 for 2002. ...more
