BT preps Movio mobile TV service

BT's mobile TV is coming to a network near you this year. The company claims that a recent trial of its Movio service, offering digital TV and radio services to mobile phones on the Virgin network, has proved a success with the thousand or so triallists involved. BT Movio will be available to any UK carrier, and BT is hoping many will adopt the service, quoting statistics such as 38 per cent being prepared to switch networks in order to receive the service. ...more

Intel sees flat market

Chip giant Intel saw its net income more than double in the Q2 2003 compared to the equivalent quarter in 2002 when the IT market was approaching rock bottom. The company has announced profits of $896 million compared to $446 million in 2002. Much of the increased profit compared to the 2002 figures were due to last year's write downs of areas like online services totalling $218 million. ...more

IBM attacks SCO's copyright claims

IBM has filed a motion seeking a summary judgement in its favour against SCO's claims of copyright infringement because it has yet to provide any evidence of this. SCO added copyright claims and another $2bn to its mammoth $3bn suit against IBM in February after dropping one of its main thrusts in its original suit - that IBM had misappropriated its trade secrets. At that point SCO amended its case with the claim that IBM had infringed its copyrights, after revoking its Unix licence in July last year. ...more
