Sober harvests child porn confession

A German child porn offender has handed himself in to the police after receiving an email sent by the Sober worm, which claimed to have been tracking the online activities of the recipient. The 20-year-old is now subject to criminal procedures after police searched his computer and found images of child porn as well as evidence that such images had been sent via email. The German Paderborn police said the effect of the Sober worm has additionally 'helped police with the clearing-up of several sexual crimes'. ...more

Intel ships the Itanium 2

Faster data analysis and online transaction processing is the promise of Intel's next-generation 64-bit processor, the Itanium 2, which begins commercial shipments today. The Itanium 2 is targeted at servers and workstations running enterprise-scale or technically demanding applications and it features a new Explicitly Parallel Instruction Computing (EPIC) design. UK jumps to third in list of ICT-savvy countries

Briitish business is becoming 'increasingly sophisticated' in its use of ICT according to The Department of Trade and Industry's International Benchmarking Study 2004. The UK is now said to be level pegging with Ireland and just behind Sweden in the survey of eleven leading nations in ICT. The 'sophistication index' is an aggregate of 50 indicators of attitude, awareness and deployment within each of the countries. ...more

A UK student has found an innovative way to pay his way through university by selling pixels on a website. The one million pixels on the Million Dollar Homepage are being sold in 10x10 sections for $1 per pixel.
