Mashboxx signs up EMI for its p2p service

Mashboxx, the music industry-friendly peer-to-peer service, has announced that it has secured a licence for EMI's entire music catalogue. The Mashboxx P2P software, once it has been completed and released, will allow users to preview and purchase music from EMI artists from within existing P2P networks. By applying filtering technology to search results, Mashboxx can identify tracks that labels like EMI have authorised for trade and then the user can choose to sample tracks for free or purchase them as downloads. ...more

Nikon launches new Wi-Fi digital cameras

The camera giant's latest offerings include two additions to the L series, the Coolpix L1 and Coolpix L101, and the Coolpix S3 and S4 will supersede the S2. However, it is Nikon's first foray into Wi-Fi enabled cameras that will excite photographers. French publishers target Google Book Search

A group of 400 French publishers has backed a lawsuit aimed at stopping Google from digitising copyright works for its Book Search service. The Syndicat National de l'Edition (SNE) has thrown its weight behind a suit filed by La Matini?re Group, an international publisher of illustrated books, which accuses Google of counterfeiting and demands that it stop scanning its books and pays €1 million damages.
