Lexmark stops copy-cartridges

Lexmark has wielded the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) to win a preliminary injunction to stop a company called Static Control Components (SCC) from selling mod chips that make Lexmark printers accept recycled printer cartridges. Apple looks to take iTunes in-car

Apple is in talks with a number of major car manufacturers to bring iTunes into the car. Speaking at today's launch of the iTunes Music Store in the UK, Germany and France, Apple CEO Steve Jobs said that he expected to be able to make an announcement later this year. He said that while you can play iTunes music through your computer, your iPod and your h-fi, the car remained the one area where people listen to a lot of music but couldn't access their iTunes collection. ...more

Security flaw discovered in QuickTime installation

Security firm eEye has discovered a flaw in the default installation of QuickTime. The company notified Apple 14 days ago and its practice is not to reveal details of the flaw until it has been fixed, confining itself to the following description: 'A vulnerability in default installations of the affected software that allows malicious code to be executed with little user interaction.'
