Camera phones dominate Western European Sales in Q3 2004

Almost three quarters of new mobile phones sold in Western Europe in the third quarter of 2004 were equipped with digital cameras. The 72 per cent market share of camera phones represented a 600 per cent growth over the same quarter in 2003. Nintendo online future still shaky

Online gaming is set to be 'fairly niche for a long time' - that's the damning verdict of Nintendo's US vice president of corporate affairs Perrin Kaplan, speaking at a press event in Las Vegas recently. Kaplan reiterated Nintendo's stance, namely that online gaming, so enthusiastically seized upon by Sony and Microsoft, does not appeal to a wide enough audience to make for a profitable business model. UK games chart: Hitman shoots its way to top of charts

Hitman: Blood Money (for PC, PS2, X360, Xb) has shot to number one in this week's ELSPA games chart. A new entry from Eidos, the action-shooter game once again features the hired-gun Agent 47, travelling through New Orleans, Los Angeles and Mississippi, and the dirty work of the ICA, which is definitely not the Institute of Contemporary Arts. Intel-inside Mac benchmarked with mixed results

Mac developers have already begun testing the performance of Apple's limited edition Mac based on a 3GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor. The Xbench tests show the performance of PowerPC software running in the Rosetta environment. The resultant cores of between 65 and 70 are a long way behind the 200+ rating achieved by the fastest Power Macs, though since Rosetta does not support Altivec instructions - there being no Altivec processor in the Intel machine. ...more
