LCD prices on the increase

Leading LCD researcher DisplaySearch has published its latest figures on the state of the LCD flat-panel display market and found that prices are on the increase as demand rises. In the third quarter of 2001, LCD monitor module shipments rose 43 per cent, higher than the anticipated 30 per cent rise. Panasonic launches two DVD hard disk players

Panasonic, the consumer brand of Matsushita, is to launch two DVD players with hard disks and DVD-RAM/DVD-R recording capabilities. The DMR-E100 and DMR-E200H sport a 120GB and 160GB drive respectively and also offer slots for SD and PCMCIA cards for transferring data. Casio to debut new notebook

Casio is planning to exhibit several power-busting notebooks at the up-and-coming COMDEX show in Las Vegas. The new machines will utilise Crusoe processors from Transmeta and will have an extended battery life of six to nine hours. Analysts praise BT Vision but warn of tough market
