Real Networks hails EU judge's ruling against Microsoft

Real Networks, as the only company still participating in the Commission's action against Microsoft, was understandably pleased that Judge Bo Vesterdorf dismissed Redmond's actions, claiming that 'The court's denial of Microsoft's appeal is a great victory for the Commission and for the Consumer.' Motorola awarded $4.26bn

Motorola has been awarded more than $4bn in compensation and damages from the owners of Turkey's second largest telco. US District Judge Jed Rakoff ruled yesterday that the members of the Uzan family had 'perpetrated a huge fraud,' in using funds loaned to the company for their own ends. He said 'under the guise of obtaining financing for a Turkish telecommunications company, the Uzans have siphoned more than a billion dollars of plaintiffs' money into their own pockets and into the coffers of other entities they control. ...more

Apple's next big one more thing set for September show

Apple has been sending out invitations to a special event on 12 September, when many expect it to unveil an iTunes movie store. The invitation to the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco reads 'It's Showtime' over an image of a white Apple logo swept by four criss-crossing movie premiere-style spotlights. Computer Aid International has signed up the London Business School to its cause. Computer Aid International - which describes itself as the world's largest non-profit provider of PCs to community organisations in developing countries - has announced a partenership with the business school to refurbish end-of-life PCs.
