Creative to acquire 3Dlabs

Creative Technology has announced it is to acquire 3Dlabs Inc as a subsidiary company pending government and shareholder approval. The cash and stocks deal would see 3Dlabs' high-end graphics technology at Creative's disposal along with a heap of IP rights and patents. Copyright laws are under renewed scrutiny, as consumers and media corporations go head to head in a power struggle that could determine the future of intellectual property in Europe. Creative industries want to protect their earnings in the face of Internet distribution and piracy, but influential consumer groups believe their tactics are heavy handed, and that the laws governing copyright are 'outdated' and 'absurd'. Oracle issues multi-patch security bulletin

Database giant Oracle has released its quarterly security bulletin, with some 65 patches for its customers to deal with. The fixes patch security problems in various versions of Oracle's Database, Database Client, Application Server, Collaboration Suite, E-Business Suite and Applications, Enterprise Management, JD Edwards and PeopleSoft products.
